Minister Alkalaj on luncheon with the OIC Secretary General, Mr. Ekmelledin Ishanoglu

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sven Alkalaj, and the OIC (Organization of Islamic Conference) Secretary General, Ekmelledin Ishanoglu, during luncheon that took place on April 7th, 2010, were talking about the relation and future cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and this international organization.

Minister Alkalaj expressed his gladness with the visit that Secretary General, Ishanoglu paid to Bosnia and Herzegovina by appraising participation of the OIC delegation on the Sarajevo Business Forum 2010 as a very important one for B&H.

They have exchanged opinions on the current internal political situation in both B&H and the region with the emphasis on finding new ways for strengthening relations and cooperation between B&H and OIC.

Secretary General, Ishanoglu repeated the OIC's attitude which supports completeness, territorial integrity and sovereignty of B&H as well as its multi-ethnicity and multi-cultures. He stressed out the support of the OIC member countries to Bosnia and Herzegovina in its endeavors in meeting the main foreign-political goals. He also emphasized that the OIC is keeping the door opened for eventual valid membership of Bosnia and Herzegovina with this Organization once all preconditions are met.

Minister Alkalaj and the OIC’s Secretary General, Ishanoglu were also talking about the assistance which the OIC, through its fund of trustees, is implementing in B&H within the framework of financing the project of the return of refugees and displaced people as well as about re-activating the OIC’s contact group for B&H, which should, by its actions, influence the strengthening of the International Community’s overall support for B&H.
