The Permanent Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the UN organizes a Reception for BiH’s Candidature for Non-Permanent Membership of the UN Security Council
On May 19th, 2009, the Permanent Mission of BiH to the UN organized a reception to mark the candidature of BiH for a non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council in 2010-2011 in the United Nations Palace in New York.
Diplomatic representatives from over 120 UN Member States and the UN Secretariat attended the reception. During the reception, promotional videos of tourist destinations in BiH, “Bosnia and Herzegovina – Your Next Adventure” and “Enjoy Life”, as well as “Enjoy Business in Bosnia and Herzegovina” and videos from successful BiH companies such as BH Telecom, Aluminijum, Energoinvest, Tamaris, and Nova Forma were shown on two screens. Guests from BiH - representatives of ASA Holding Group Kenan Hastor and Vedran Persic, Tamaris Director Milorad Janjetovic, Sanela Smajlovic from the Tourist Community of BiH and Danijela Bicanic, PR Manager of MIMS Group – also attended the reception.
In the morning, the delegation of BiH, headed by Ambassador of BiH to the UN Ivan Barbalic, met with UNDP Private Sector Director Bruce Jenks. They discussed the possibility of the UNDP’s increased involvement in BiH within the process of strengthening the private sector. Noting the importance and necessity of such an initiative, UNDP Director Bruce Jenks stated that the UNDP in New York is ready to offer its support via its office in BiH in the process of re-engaging relations with the privat sector. Ambassador Barbalic presented Director Jenkins with FIPA and BiH tourism promotional material and a Central Bank of BiH silver coin.
